Call for Entries in Ranch Hand Chalk Art Competition
Are you creative and great at drawing or know someone who is? Then we have the perfect event for you. Kingsville Parks and Recreation is now accepting entries in all age categories for the department’s sponsored Chalk Art Competition as part of the Ranch Hand Festival in downtown Kingsville on November 18.
Participating artists will be given an assigned space in the downtown Kingsville and given a set of chalk with pre-set colors to work with. Individuals may bring water spray bottles, kneepads, rags, paper towels and paintbrushes, though no additional chalk or extra materials will be allowed. All artwork must be related to the overall Ranch Hand event theme and must not contain advertising, logos, offensive or inappropriate material and must be appropriate for all age groups.
All entries will be judged by a panel of three persons who will base their selections based on design, execution, use of color and originality. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each of the following divisions: Ages 0-3yrs – Ages 4-5, Grades 1-3, Grades 4-5, Grade 6-8, Grades 9-12, Ages 18 and older.
Registration will begin at 11:00 a.m. and the competition will start at 12 p.m. Judging will commence at 1 p.m. with winner being announced at the Main Stage at 2 p.m. Space is limited so persons interested in entering should complete the required participation form early and fax it to 361-595-8596 or drop it off at Kingsville Parks & Recreation Office at Dick Kleberg Park.
